There were really no major surprises, so I only have a few things to say. I thought There Will be Blood should have won best picture, but No Country wasn't at all a surprise. Marion Cottilard upset the favorite Ellen Page, but that's okay, because I'm sure she'll have plenty more opportunities in her long career. One of the most pleasant winners for me, was Glenn Hansard winning best song for "Falling Slowly. " I just loved the movie, and I'm glad it got some recognition. I don't have much else to say since I didn't actually watch them. Feel free to post your opinions.

I too feel There Will be Blood should have taken best picture. While I accept there was some good acting in No Country and I feel he well deserved the supporting character award, the movie left something to be desired. To dry perhaps? Given the slew of bigger budget nominations for best song, it was good to see the more genuine feeling independents win best song. Cinematography is also one of the most important parts of a movie to me, it can take a sub par movie and make it great (Requiem for a Dream I'm not looking at you but I'm talking in your direction) and There Will be Blood truly deserved it. As one last aside, she's been getting more media harassment it seems lately but Cody deserved the award and seemed to be very genuine and humble in her winning.
